The police in Katsina State have arrested one Abubakar Lado, 25, of Badole Quarter in the Dandume Local Government Area of the state for allegedly raping his eight-year-old niece.
According to the police, the incident occurred at Yamborikowo Quarter also in the Dandume Local Government Area of the state.
Lado, who has been charged to court for forcefully having sexual intercourse with a minor contrary to Section 283 of the Penal Code, was remanded in the Katsina Prison the Senior Magistrates’ Court presided over by Hajiya Fadile Dikko.
It was learnt that Lado was arrested after a resident of Yamborikowo Quarter, Abdullahi Ibrahim, reported the incident at the Dandume Police Division.
The police prosecutor, Sergeant Lawal Bello, said investigation into the matter was still in progress and asked the court for another date.
The case was subsequently adjourned till May 29, 2019, for further mention.
Meanwhile, 18-year-old Rabe Isa, who allegedly sodomised a seven-year-old boy in Daura, is also to appear before the same court on May 27.
Isa was alleged to have conspired with a minor to commit the offence.
The minor was ordered to be kept at the Children Home, Katsina, till when the matter would be brought up for mention.
The victim’s father, Magaji Musa, reported the incident at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Sabon-Gari, Daura.
Musa told the police that on January 11, 2019, Isa and his accomplice took his son into an uncompleted building at the Shadambu Low Cost area in Daura where they allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge of him through the anus.
Musa, the two accused persons as well as the victim, were said to reside in the same house at the Shadambu Low Cost Estate.
It was gathered that the police had filed charges of criminal conspiracy and unnatural offence against the accused.
According to the police, the offence is contrary to sections 97 and 284 of the Penal Code Law.
